BlogOCTOBER 2012 LITTLE CHALK HORSE SPORT We are so excited to introduce Little Chalk Horse Sport. We have put together a set of clothing, which we believe fits in perfectly with the equestrian lifestyle. The core of the collection is four thin, yet warm layers comprising of a second skin base layer, microfleece, soft shell gilet and soft shell jacket, which when worn together maintains the rider's shape and movement, without being bulky. Adorned with our new Litte Chalk Horse Sport logo and the Little Chalk Horse itself in several clolours including eyecatching fluorescents, we believe these are the perfect garments for practical, affordable and stylish equestrian wear.
JULY 2012 SHOWJUMPER ISSY KING JOINS THE LITTLE CHALK HORSE TEAM
Sarah, May and Issy To complete our team of riders for 2012 we are delighted to announce that talented, up and coming showjumper Issy King has joined the Little Chalk Horse team. Issy is based in the South West and is a gifted rider who is able to bring on young horses to a very high standard. Her main horse is Quick Whirlwind (aka May) who is proving to be everything she hoped for. With Debbie Smith of Whirlwind Stud, Issy has very exciting times ahead as she aims to breed superstar showjumpers of the future. Their first foal Quitah Whirlwind was born this year, and already looks to be a very promising prospect. JUNE 2012 FACEBOOK COMPETITION TO FIND NEW SPONSORED RIDER FOR LITTLE CHALK HORSE - CHLOE HALL WINS!
Chloe Hall and Pepo The competition to find another ambassador to represent Little Chalk Horse was a great success. It was run over two weeks, and was based on a joint voting and judges decision. The LCH Facebook page gained over 5,000 new likes and there were over 140 entrants! One was as young as five, and had the whole of his home town backing him to win! The judges had to choose a winner from the top twenty contestants, and it was really hard. There were some top class contestants, but in the end Chloe Hall fulfilled the judges' criteria the best. Chloe is a very talented up and coming young eventer who had been competing at Intermediate level on her fantastic horse Al Pacino II otherwise known as Pepo. Tragically, during the middle of the competition, Pepo died, which was a devastating loss to Chloe. However, things are brighter now for Chloe, it looks like she may have found a new horse who will take her even farther than her beloved Pepo, and we're really looking forward to following her career. Becci has two young horses she is bringing on herself, Candy Blue who is rarely out of the top six in BE100 events, and My Harlequin Lady, who at 4yo is already showing great promise for much bigger things to come. 10th April 2012 - Hoodie Watch! A Little Chalk Horse hoodie has just been spotted in Winchcombe High Street. We would love to hear of any more sightings - the more unusual the better! It's good to know our funky designs are out and about on the High Street - even if it's only someone walking along it wearing one! 9th March 2012 Just going through some old photo albums and came across one from the mid 1970s. I think it was taken at Evesham Horse Show (when it used to be held in the big Corporation Meadow), and it's of my sister on Popalong, or Poppy as she was commonly known, the real life inspiration of the Little Chalk Horse Poppy. The real Poppy was a pretty New Forest bay mare, whereas I have designed her as a chestnut. This is because the real Flash was bay also and I needed to contrast the two designs. Poppy was a lovely girl, very kind and gentle. We lost touch with her after we grew out of her and sold her, but I do know she went on to have a foal and I know she would have made a brilliant mum!
23rd February 2012 It's a bit late to wish everyone a Happy New Year now, but we hope the new year has got off to a good start for all our horsey friends - both two and four legged! At least there hasn't been all that snow like last year, which really scuppered things down at the stables all over the country!
We're really looking forward to the new season of shows, and hope to see some friends there new and old. We had a fantastic Your Horse Live in November last year and have just booked again for this year. It is really a one stop event for all things equestrian and not to be missed! If you know of any horse mad new mums, then get them to look at the Little Chalk Horse Baby range. We've got cute horsey hoodies in sizes as small as 3-6 months, which can be customised just like the larger hoodies and tees. Our 'Horse Baby' range is proving to be popular and we're just about to bring out a new design with a foal on it. We've just tried this out on an adult long line hoodie for a relative who's pregnant and it looks absolutely brilliant! We're aiming to put it on childrens as well as adult size hoodies and tees - so watch this space! 29th October 2011 8 WEEKS TO CHRISTMAS EVE! With only 8 weeks to go until the big day, now is the time to start seriously thinking about what you're going to give the horsey people in your lives. At Little Chalk Horse we think we have the answer to every age, whether you're a boy or girl. All LCH products can be personalised with the name of the person you're giving to. Or that person's horse or pony. So for something really special give a Little Chalk Horse gift this Christmas. 19th September2011 Autumn is here, or at least it feels like it's here in the land of Little Chalk Horse. Time to get those winter woolies out, or buy yourself a smart new hoodie from our extensive range. Warm and snuggly they are the perfect garment for layering under on those sharp, frosty mornings at the stables. 23rd August 2011 Been really busy so have neglected the blog a bit lately! We've been out and about at Herefordshire Country Fair and Hartpury Horse Trials, both really great events, which we really enjoyed. Our stand was situated by the showjumping ring at Herefordshire, and there was a real eclectic mix of trade stands bordering what turned out to be a very high class of showjumping! From ferrets, alpacas, donkeys, owls, chickens, snakes (yes snakes!) as our neighbours there was also the usual fine fair and craftsmanship stands you can only find at these events. We met some lovely people, and hopefully spread the name of Little Chalk Horse a little further afield. Hartpury was also a brilliant event. If you've never been to a horse trials before this is an excellent one to go to. The first two days of dressage are absolutely free entry to the public, and then on the third and fourth day it's £10 to get in, but kids go free! And you get all the top eventers there; Zara Phillips, Pippa Funnell, William Fox-Pitt to name but a few. Well worth taking a look, and of course there were some excellent trade stands (including ours) where you could shop til you drop! Once again, we met some lovely people - customers as well as fellow traders and we'll definitely be going back next year! 28th June 2011 NEWPORT SHOW Little Chalk Horse will be at Newport Show on Saturday 9th July. This is a brilliant one day country fair with loads to see and do, including displays from Jamie Squibb - Freestyle FMX Stunts and Stallions of Substance the graceful Andalusian stallions combined with the fearless acrobatic riding skills of the Murray sisters – not forgetting their kid brother whose stunt motorbike riding will make for an extra-thrilling spectacle in the main arena. There's loads of trade stands (including ours) if you fancy a bit of retail therapy and it's all set in the beautiful grounds of the Chetwynd Deer Park. You can buy a family ticket for £32.00 (2 adults and 2 children), which makes it an inexpensive day out. Stop by and say hello, we look forward to seeing you there! 25th April 2011 NEW DOG DESIGNS We are absolutely thrilled to bits with our new range of t-shirts featuring original dog designs. For all ages, shapes and sizes if you're a dog lover there is something here for everyone. More breeds to follow, but we're sure you'll agree our first litter of Little Chalk Horse dogs is really stunning! 4th April 2011 APRIL SHOWERS So far April has fallen a little to form with the weather! I know it's only just April, but in the land of Little Chalk Horse it has been sunny with showers! Don't be put off by the weather, spring is definitely here, and it is warming up. Time for a new t-shirt of hoodie! The weather's brightening, so brighten your wardrobe with something fun and funky from Little Chalk Horse!
23rd March 2011 NEW T SHIRTS Spring is officially here, and to mark the occasion we've just added four new t-shirt designs to the Little Chalk Horse range. A cute bay Horse Baby on a white t-shirt with its manga influence is something definitely different. We've also produced one of our most popular designs on to a t shirt - Flash & Poppy best of friends front and back. This design is usually on our lovely zoodies, but we felt it could go just as well on a tee, and it did! As well as pretty glitter pink 'Running Free' t-shirt, the clown of the stableyard Fast Eddie has at last got his own t-shirt too. 21st February 2011 RUBY THE DALES PONY HAS ARRIVED! We're so excited at Little Chalk Horse with the arrival of our latest addition to the funkiest horsey clothing around! Ruby the cute and cuddly Dales pony is available in five designs, using three new hoodie colours too! And not only that, but the hoodies now start at age 1 -2! If you want to make a bold fashion statement at the stables, then Ruby is your girl. Look out for Ruby t-shirts too - soon to be making an appearance at Little Chalk Horse! 3rd February 2011 SPRING IS ON ITS WAY! Well, I like to think it is. Just been spending a few days in Pembroke with my husband and dogs. The weather has been glorious - sunny, but cold - great for walking on deserted beaches. We saw two lucky girls today riding their horses at Broadhaven beach - such a lovely sight! Back to work now though after the break, with a cute Dales pony design on the way. This new lady is going to be called Ruby after my friend Melinda's pony. Come and join us at the East of England Showground Peterborough for what promises to be a fun packed weekend! With Olympic showjumper Tim Stockdale giving demonstrations both days, and the native stallion parade, Pony Club demonstration and a huge equine shopping village, it's the perfect event in the run up to Christmas. 4th November 2010 HORSE BABY HAS ARRIVED! We are thrilled to welcome our new addition to the Little Chalk Horse stable. Cute and cuddly Horse Baby available in several colourways whether it is one colour navy print on sky blue or a beautiful two colour gold and cream palomino print on chocolate brown. We think she will be a smash with both young and old alike, whether on a cute sleepsuit for the newborn or a funky hoodie for the fashion conscious teen. There will be more Horse Baby items to come, including bags. Let us know what you think, we love to get feedback! 26th August 2010 Welcome to Little Chalk Horse's first blog. We hope you like our exciting range of horsey clothing featuring our original designs of Flash and Poppy, and the Little Chalk Horse. There will be more to come in the following weeks, especially from the adorable ponies Flash and Poppy, who will be featuring on loads of colourful hoodies and tops for you to look your best in at the stables. The sun shone and the crowds were out, and it was lovely to meet so many new people. We will be at Kington Show on Saturday 11th September, so fingers crossed that the sun comes out again then! Look out for more new stuff coming soon on the website, including baby hoodies! 12th September 2010 Many thanks to the wonderful committee and organisers of Kington Show. What a day! The sun shone, but unfortunately there had been so much rain the night before that it was mud city! Talk about Glastonbury, this was the equine equivalent of it! The crowds still came out though, and Little Chalk Horse was debuting the new tent, which was a great success. As always it was lovely to meet so many new people. Our next show will be The Malvern Autumn Show on 25th and 26th September at the Three Counties Showground. We will be situated in the World of Animals section. Next weekend things are back to normal when we'll be at The Autumn Show at Malvern Three Counties Showground on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th September. Looking forward to meeting and making new Little Chalk Horse friends! 30th October 2010 FAST EDDIE IN RED. We've just added a beautiful fire red hoodie to the Fast Eddie stable. The comical clown now comes in three colours - green, airforce blue and red in sizes to fit age 3/4 right up to XXL in adult. A design to suit all ages and sizes, boys and girls, as well as big boys and girls! Great idea for presents!
